Cormac Ranger was a social worker who worked in a care home in Moston in the 1980s. Warren Fox, one of the care home residents, saw Cormac as a father figure as Cormac taught him boxing. What Warren was unaware of, was that Cormac was racially abusing Felix Westwood. He would mock Felix by putting on a Jamaican accent when he walked into the room, forced Felix to eat alone, ordered him to scrub himself in the shower to make his skin "less black", and regularly beat Felix.
In July 2020, Warren contacted Cormac over Felix's allegations. Cormac fervently denied the accusations, but later threatened Felix, which Warren witnessed. In October 2020, Cormac returned looking for Warren. Brody Hudson lead him to Warren's Wheels where Felix and Warren confronted Cormac. Having flashbacks to his abuse, Brody punched Cormac. Cormac picked up a wrench to fight back, to which Warren kicked it out of his hand. Cormac told Warren that he should have been abused as well, leading Warren to see red and viciously attack Cormac, leaving him comatose after kicking him in the head.
Following the near-death assault, Felix suggested dumping Cormac's body outside the hospital. Felix's son - Doctor Mitchell Drinkwell-Deveraux - told Felix that it would be surprising if Cormac survived his injuries. In November 2020, Cormac's daughter, Summer Ranger, arrived at the hospital to be at his bedside. Cormac remained in a coma until February 2021, when he regained consciousness after undergoing surgery for a brain swell. After Cormac confirmed to Summer that Warren was his attacker, he died from a heart attack during a brain scan.
In the aftermath of Cormac's death, Summer sought revenge. As Brody fell for her, she targeted him especially due to him keeping quiet about his involvement in Cormac's death. Her quest left the lives of Brody, his ex-girlfriend Sienna Blake (with whom Summer had an affair), Sienna's sister Liberty Savage and Liberty's partner Damon Kinsella in danger. After Brody was killed in a hit-and-run, Summer was accused and exonerated, but was incarcerated for her other crimes.
