Colin Grimshaw - referred to as "Creepy Colin" by students behind his back - was the teacher who served as Ruby Button's learning support tutor in May 2011. Wanting Pete Hamill to tutor her, Ruby purposefully misbehaved. Ricky Campbell took a photograph of Mr. Grimshaw returning her folder after class, printed the poster and stuck it to the whiteboard in the classroom with a love heart surrounding it. Ruby ran out of class. Ricky continued bullying Ruby by mocking her inability to read, and sent the photograph around the school in a text blast.
The bullying exacerbated Ruby's behaviour and she accused Mr. Grimshaw of behaving inappropriately. Ruby continued to misbehave and pushed Mr. Grimshaw's buttons, blocking his path as he attempted to leave and taunted him. The teacher tired of the personal attacks and shoved Ruby out of his way, causing her to hit her head against the lockers.
