Callum was a friend of Ben Davies. In August 2004, Callum began working at the same fire station as Ben and spent his first shift working alongside him. The pair immediately got on like a house on fire, and the pair would often go out drinking on nights out together. Callum supported Ben in March 2005 after Ben nearly died in a house fire whilst rescuing five-year-old Tom Cunningham, giving him advice and offering to be someone for him to talk to. In September 2005, Ben decided to leave the fire station and move away from Chester, saying goodbye to Callum.
