Bonnie Tyler is a Welsh singer who appeared as herself in an episode of season 2 of Hollyoaks Later in 2009. She appeared in a dream sequence in which she sang her hit song, "Holding Out for a Hero", as a duet with character Carmel McQueen. Tyler initially declined the offer of a cameo, but was eventually persuaded when her role was amended to be a singing part.
Tyler's character visited Carmel in a dream, when Carmel was arrested when an undercover officer believed she was a prostitute. She acted as a "fairy godmother" to Carmel, and the pair performed Holding Out for a Hero.
