Bazil "Bazz/Bazz FM" McCourtey was the friend of Tony Hutchinson, Jambo Bolton and Kurt Benson, and a band member of Crazy Bazz Studs.
Biography[]
Bazz was a DJ and musician who lived in the back of his truck, which he also used to store his equipment as he went to gigs. In December 1995, Bazz started a pirate radio station which was hijacked. As he and his friends Jambo Bolton, Tony Hutchinson and Kurt Benson searched for the hijacker, they ended up coming face-to-face with the police instead. In September 1996, the quartet went to Ibiza as models for a photoshoot for Jude Cunningham. Whilst there, Bazz - conflicted about his sexuality - went to a gay bar, but fled when another man began chatting him up. Upon his return, he ended up moving into 2b Oakdale Drive with Dawn Cunningham and Lewis Richardson.
In October 1996, Bazz decided to form a band with Kurt's sister Lucy and her friend Carol Groves, calling themselves Crazy Bazz Studs. However, after Bazz's ex-boyfriend Ian tracked Bazz down, Bazz was ultimately outed to his friends. Lewis reacted badly and kicked Bazz out of the flat, whilst Lucy confronted Bazz as he had previously told her that he had feelings for her. Bazz told Lucy that when he was thirteen, he began developing crushes on men, but had always had girlfriends until Ian. Afterwards, Bazz ended up beginning a relationship with Lucy.
In the wake of his sexuality reveal, Bazz was left seriously injured in a homophobic attack arranged by local builder Spike. The attack left him with a brain injury, which was exacerbated by a fall whilst walking in the Lake District in May 1997. Bazz ended up being rushed into surgery, and he eventually healed from his surgery. During a performance in The Dog in the Pond, Crazy Bazz Studs - now joined by Lewis after putting things right with Bazz - caught the attentions of band manager Matt Fraser. Joining his record label, Bazz ended up having an affair with Matt. Lucy found the pair kissing during the village's Guy Fawkes Night in November 1997 and broke up with Bazz, who then left the village.
