Anna Blake (also Savage) was the wife of Patrick Blake and ex-wife to Dirk Savage, as well as the mother of Sienna Blake, Dodger, Will and Liberty Savage.
Anna met and married Patrick, and gave birth to twins Dodger and Sienna in December 1986. In around 1987, Anna fled an abusive Patrick, taking Dodger with her and telling Patrick that he had died. She later met Dirk whom she had two other children by, and also raised Dodger to believe that Dirk was his father. In 1997, Dirk found a goodbye letter from Anna and was unable to find her, unaware that she would have spent the next 15 years in a psychiatric facility under Patrick's orders.
In March 2013, Anna arrived in the village under the name of "Ellie Harper", pretending to be his care worker. Will later phoned the agency and discovered that an Ellie Harper did not work for them. At Will's engagement party to Texas Longford, Dirk recognised Anna and revealed to Dodger, Liberty, Will and Sienna that Ellie was actually Anna - their mother. Anna was initially rejected by her family, but Dodger and Sienna came round when Anna showed them a photograph in her wallet of the twins as babies. Patrick later learned of Anna's arrival and had her returned to the psychiatric facility.
A few months later, Anna escaped from the facility and confronted Patrick. Patrick attempted to give her sedatives and called for Anna to be taken back to the facility. In the car, Anna spat the pill back out and smashed a vase over Patrick's head after getting into his flat, tying him up and drugging him with sedatives. She had prepared to blow up the flat with her, Patrick and Sienna (who Anna didn't initially realise was home). However, her plan was foiled by Patrick's girlfriend Maxine Minniver, who pretended to be a pizza delivery woman and restrained Anna before she was arrested.
Patrick told Jim McGinn that he suspected that Anna had killed Will's wife, Texas, but was unable to produce any evidence. Sienna, fearing for her life after learning that the CPS had decided not to charge Anna, told the police that Anna had confessed to her. After learning that Will killed his wife, Anna took the blame for him.
Will's girlfriend Ash Kane started a work placement at the secure unit, and was placed with Anna. Ash realised that Anna was Will's mother after seeing the photographs of her children on her bedside table, and the pair developed a friendship. Anna began to fear Ash's safety as Will became paranoid that his secret may be revealed, and left her a voice message informing Ash that he killed Texas. Will also heard the voice message and confronted Anna, drowning her in the bath to keep his secret. Ash later died from injuries sustained in a bomb explosion whilst confronting Will over the murders of Texas and Anna.
In November 2013, Dodger convinced D.S. Sykes and D.I. Lacey to re-open the investigation. The two officers reviewed CCTV from the day of Anna's death and spotted a reflection of Will, who had been disguised in builder's clothing, in the window. After a siege at Anna's house (which she had left to Will in her will), Will was arrested for murder.
