Biography[]
1999-2001: Family Troubles[]
After his wife Sue had an affair with her boss, Andy decided to attempt to save his marriage by bringing the family on a new venture. He moved his family to Hollyoaks and purchased Store TwentyFour with the intention of converting it into a restaurant, but plans were delayed when Sol Patrick crashed through the shop during an argument with his mother Jill. He also purchased the adjacent yard, which he opened as a market stall. Andy also settled into the village quickly, making friends with The Dog in the Pond landholder Jack Osborne.
Whilst Adam, Beth and Luke quickly adjusted to their new environments, Andy and Sue struggled with Zara, who was constantly poorly behaved. Andy and Sue would continuously argue as to how to deal with Zara, especially after Andy applied to enroll Zara at Hollyoaks Comprehensive College without informing Sue first. After Andy shared a kiss with Adam's holiday girlfriend Kerri, Sue decided that she wanted a separation, to Andy's disappointment. After Sue began dating her former boss William, Andy decided to temporarily move out.
In May 2000, Luke was seriously injured in a car accident and confided in Adam that his reclusive behaviour (not picked up on by Sue or Andy) was because he had been raped by Mark Gibbs in March. Adam convinced Luke to report the rape and the case made it to trial, with Andy left greatly uncomfortable by the press attention. He aired his concerns during the trial, especially when doubting that Mark would be found guilty. When he was found guilty, Luke turned on Andy and sold his story to journalist Alan Hook, using the money to move out into a luxury apartment. Luke's ex-girlfriend Mandy Richardson convinced Luke to give Andy a chance to put things right, and the pair soon reconciled.
Throughout Luke's ordeal, Zara continued to cause trouble. After becoming infatuated with Paul Millington, she began writing fictitious sexual encounters in her diary, which Andy eventually discovered. Accusing Paul of statutory rape, he ended up attacking him in Deva, causing Paul serious injuries when he pushed him onto a table with glasses. After Zara was exposed as a liar, Andy was seriously apologetic towards Paul and Paul decided against pressing charges. A few months afterwards, Sue told Andy that she wanted a divorce.
2001-2010s: Departure and Death[]
Andy and Sue were left devastated after learning that Beth had been raped by footballer Scott Anderson during Jason Cunliffe's party in November 2001. The pair supported her through the trial, as did journalist Alyson Turner. However, Scott was exonerated as Alyson coached Beth in the trial, whilst Beth was arrested after hitting Scott with her car. Sue and Andy ended up reconciling throughout Beth's ordeal, planning to remarry and move to France. Beth was released from prison early - in time for the wedding - and decided to accompany her parents to France in October 2002.
At some point prior to October 2017, Andy fell gravely ill. Adam flew from New York and Zara from Thailand to be at Andy's bedside with Beth and Sue, but Luke missed his flight from Canada as he was intoxicated. Andy died shortly afterwards and Luke became distanced from the family as a consequence.
