D.I. Alistair Banks was a detective who was active in Hollyoaks from at least 2013 up until 2026. However, in 2026, Banks went into a partnership with gangster Grace Black, trafficking and pimping vulnerable people.

In August 2013, D.S. Banks interviewed Nancy Osborne after a car crash in a multi-storey car park. However, despite being set up by Sienna Blake, doctor Angela Page declared Nancy mentally unstable and she was sectioned. A month later, D.S. Banks questioned Joe Roscoe over a severe beating his uncle Ken received. In March 2014, D.S. Banks was part of the search for the missing Rose Lomax. In March 2016, D.S. Banks questioned Cleo McQueen and Holly Cunningham over a car accident which resulted in the death of Rachel Hardy.

In May 2019, D.S. Banks spoke with Farrah Maalik after her girlfriend Grace Black was struck by a car in a hit-and-run, and interviewed Romeo Quinn in June 2019 when his alibi for Harry Thompson was proved to be unreliable. D.S. Banks informed Ste Hay and Jonny Baxter were removing their permit to protest on Oakdale Drive due to the vandalism of Price Slice later in the month, and continued to investigate them and Stuart Sumner for suspected far-right extremism activity. In August 2019, Scott Drinkwell and Darren Osborne spoke with D.S. Banks to report Tony Hutchinson as missing, but he refused to investigate as Breda McQueen had faked a letter from Tony claiming he had run off with another woman.

In February 2022, D.S. Banks investigated the disappearance of Maya Harkwell when she was reported as a missing person, but D.I. Lexi Calder uncovered Maya's body. In June 2023, D.S. Banks was called out with armed units to a robbery on a money van at the Royal Northern Bank depot, arresting Grace Black, Cindy Cunningham and Zara Morgan. Grace confessed to the crime but claimed to have acted alone, with the others corroborating her story. In September 2023, D.S. Banks questioned Sienna over £10,000 taken from Rafe Harcourt's bank account, but failed to get far with the appalled Sienna as solicitor James Nightingale managed to get her quickly released.

In March 2024, D.I. Banks searched for Romeo Nightingale, who had been convicted of the manslaughter of his abusive girlfriend Rayne Royce. However, Romeo managed to escape and the case was closed. Later in the month, Banks investigated the disappearance of Marie Fielding's son Arlo. When Marie's son Abe planted sedatives in her bag, Banks accused the mother of staging her own son's kidnap. Marie was ultimately released without charge. In May, D.I. Banks arrested Carter Shepherd for several crimes as he disrupted a gay pride event in the village. A month later, Banks accused Hannah Ashworth of stealing wallets, but released her.

After D.C. Zoe Anderson speculated that Kitty Draper was an identity thief who buried the real Kitty Draper - who had been reported missing - in Hunter McQueen's grace after killing her, the pair attempted to have his remains exhumed. Hunter's mother Goldie refused, but Beau Ramsey revealed that "Kitty"'s father Declan Hawthorne was buried in Hunter's grave. Banks and Anderson questioned Beau, who claimed that he was acting on his own and "Kitty" corroborated.

A month later, Banks searched Warren Fox's flat after a tip-off, uncovering the gun used to kill Warren's mother Norma Crow. He arrested Warren and charged him with murder. In November 2025, Banks investigated Darren's disappearance. Darren's phone and wallet was found inside a stolen car in a remote location, and Darren's wife Nancy revealed to Banks that Darren had a history of depression. Nancy made a TV appeal but collapsed, prompting Darren - hiding at his nephew's residence - to return home. In January 2026, Banks arrested Abe on suspicion of raping his wife, Peri Lomax. Abe was ultimately released pending further enquiries.

Later in the month, Banks arrested Jacob Omari on suspicion of shooting Grace, but released him. In February 2026, he arrested Mercedes McQueen on suspicion of Abe's murder after Grace planted the gun on her.

By April 2026, Banks is confronted by work colleague Donny Clark who rightly suspects Banks being involved in a human trafficking ring, Banks plays dumb but later orders another fellow colleague in P.C. Guy to silence Donny. Donny tases P.C. Guy and takes him to the station to question him, Donny then goes to confront Banks in the Dog In The Pond car park and tells him he’s gonna tell the whole force what he’s been doing, Banks sees a car speeding through the car park and he then pushes Donny in front of the car and he escapes.

In May 2026, he held an online auction to sell Frankie Osborne, Dillon Ray and Vicky Grant, after Dillion attacked him and turned the camera to reveal a poster for The Loft. Dodger Savage, who was watching the auction to try save them, sees the poster and calls the police for back up and runs to The Loft, he cuts the power causing Alistair and 2 of his men to go outside to investigate, Dodger sneaks past Banks and tells the teens to keep quiet, Vicky distracts the goon by telling him she needs the bathroom and Dodger knocks him out, he tells the teens that he’s an undercover cop and that they need to listen to him in order to escape, Dodger heads outside to check if it’s clear but gets by Alistair and he tells him “this is what we do to rats” and holds him at gun point at the top of the stairs. Inside Dillion finds 3 guns and tells them they need to be able to defend themselves, they hear someone coming inside and they all hide. Alistair goes back inside to find the teens and tells them he’s going to kill the first person he finds if they don’t come out, after Vicky distracts him, Frankie goes to the door and as she’s trying to open it, Alistair catches her, before he can do anything, Dillion and Vicky emerge and as he pulls out his gun he is shot dead by Frankie, Dillon and Vicky.

  3. Robbie Roscoe, 27th May 2026 (by proxy) - Ordered his men to kill and dispose of Robbie.
  4. Frankie Osborne, 28th May 2026 - When Frankie attempted to escape from The Loft he pulled his gun out but before he could shoot her, he is shot dead by Frankie, Dillon Ray and Vicky Grant.
