Alice is the widow of Stuart Sumner, step-mother of Sid Sumner, and mother of Violet. In August 2019, Alice attempted to convince Sinead Shelby to let Ste Hay see his daughter Hannah Hay-O'Connor. The attempt went down poorly as Alice became rude as she criticised Sinead's parenting. After a bomb explosion at 65 Christleton Terrace, Alice took Aiden and Violet so the children wouldn't have to be involved in the police investigations.
In November 2019, Stuart attempted to throw Ste off a cliff, with Sid jumping in to rescue Ste and Stuart going over the edge of the cliff. Alice refused to let Sid live with her after Stuart's death, and was rude towards Sienna Blake who wanted to foster Sid. After learning that Sid had armed himself with a knife to protect himself whilst living on the street, Alice outrightly refused to take Sid and left.
