- Sixteen-year-old Dawn Cunningham gives birth to a daughter, who she puts up for adoption. The father is Jack Osborne, the father of Dawn's best friend Ruth.
- 19th March - Josh Ashworth is born.
- 4th June - Michaela McQueen is born.
- 29th June - Amy Barnes is born.
- 14th August - Porsche McQueen is born. In 2015, she would discover that she was the result of rape: her mother Reenie was sexually abused by her mother's boyfriend Derek Clough.

- Laura Burns drowns after falling into a river during a confrontation with her best friend Kerry Shepherd. Kerry's trauma from the incident causes her to take on Laura's identity.
